- Trill neurotransmitter facilitating synaptic connection between host and symbiont (DS9: "Equilibrium"; DS9 Novel: Mission Gamma: Twilight)
- Because severing of the synaptic connection can be fatal to the host and/or symbiont, low levels of isoboramine can indirectly result in death (DS9: "Equilibrium")
- Removal of the symbiont is recommended at levels below 40% of normal, to prevent death of both (DS9: "Equilibrium")
- Standard treatment of low levels of isoboramine is benzocyatizine (DS9: "Equilibrium"; DS9 Novel: Mission Gamma: Twilight)
