  • Vulcan neurological disorder (ENT: "Stigma")
  • Result of improperly performed mind melds disrupting the neuroelectric impulses in the Vulcan midbrain (ENT: "Kir'Shara")
    • Contagious, in that one affected by Pa'nar syndrome is likely to impose the damage on another during the meld inadvertently (ENT: "Stigma")
  • Causes degradation of synaptic pathways in the midbrain, leading to damage to the endocrine and immune systems (ENT: "Kir'Shara")
    • Survivable for years, but eventually terminal if untreated (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
  • Damage can be easily corrected through a trained adept at the mind meld technique (ENT: "Kir'Shara")
    • Knowledge of the cure suppressed during the period of melder stigma in Vulcan society from the 20th to 22nd centuries (ENT: "Kir'Shara")
  • Largely abolished by 2165 following the lifting of the stigma against melders in the 2150s following the recovery of the Kir'shara (ENT: "Daedalus"; ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
