Electroplasma
(Redirected from EPS)
- High-energy electrically-charged plasma used to carry, transmit power within a spacegoing vessel or station in most known technology bases
- Most often generated from warp drive or fusion reactors
- Also commonly known as warp plasma
- Used directly in order to provide for power through either direct plasma manipulation or indirect electrical generation
- In Federation vessels, transmitted throughout an internal power transfer grid of plasma conduits known as the electroplasma system, or EPS (Various)
- For systems not powered directly by electroplasma, electricity produced via EPS power taps (TNG: "Galaxy's Child", "A Matter of Time", "Relics"; DS9: "For the Uniform")
- Extremely flammable
- If exposed to oxygen or sparked, can produce incredibly intense, radioactive, green flame (ENT: "The Forgotten"; TNG: "Disaster")
- As a powerful potential power source, commonly stored for portable power storage or as a medium of exchange (ENT: "Dead Stop"; VOY: "Fair Trade", "Distant Origin")
