• Fixed yield for given missile, unlike later photon torpedo (ENT: "The Expanse")
• Low viability against deflectors; largely incapable of penetrating deflector shields (ENT: "Fight or Flight")
• Largely obsoleted by photon torpedo, but still in use by Starfleet by c.2165 (SCE Short Story: "Foundations, Book Two")
