Subspace compression

  • Incredibly rare subspace phenomenon associated with specific singularities (DS9: "One Little Ship"; SCE Short Story: "Aftermath")
    • Subspace configuration around said singularities results in yet-unexplained reduction in physical scale of objects following particular geodesics, coupled with an equivalent shifting of mass into subspace (DS9: "One Little Ship"; SCE Short Story: "Aftermath")
      • Departure from the singularity along other geodesics then preserves reduction in size through similarly-unspecified means, though original size can be recovered through returning on the previous exit course and then exiting through the original course traveled (DS9: "One Little Ship"; SCE Short Story: "Aftermath")
  • The subspace configuration required for this can theoretically be applied artificially as well (TOS: "Requiem for Methuselah"; SCE Short Story: "Aftermath")
  • Subspace compression is distinguished from spiroid epsilon waves, which only affect organic materials and beings, and whose effects preserve mass (TAS: "The Terratin Incident")
